THE PATRIOT PASTOR – JOHN PETER MUHLENBERG – Woodstock, VA. Preaches a sermon in January of 1776 and at the end quotes the book of Ecclesiastes… “There is a time for peace and a time for war…. gentlemen.. now is a time for war”. Upon saying this removes his clerical robes to reveal that he is wearing a uniform of the Continental Army. On that day he put forth a challenge and 300 men joined him.
