The Statue of Liberty is the most recognized symbol of Liberty in the world and is tied to the Declaration of Independence in several ways.
She holds the Declaration of Independence in her hands. The Torch of Liberty represents the light oft he principles of the Declaration to be taken out into the world. And in the the cornerstone of her pedestal is a copy of the Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution and a Bible where the principles of liberty come from.
Lady Liberty has an amazing history.
Originally, it was hoped that the idea would get traction and it would be able to be presented to the citizens of the United States on the 100 year Anniversary of our Declaration of Independence.
